Most people want to be happy and carefree. There is a time for that, but it can only come after there has been a time of mourning. Learn to mourn for the sin you have committed. When you have a heart of mourning over your sin, you will experience
Psalm 85:8
I will listen to what God the Lord will say; he promises peace to his people, his saints— but let them not return to folly.

Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.
2 Corinthians 1:4
[God] comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God.
Dear God,
As I bow before You today, I do so mourning my sin and shortcomings. I know that my sin and the sin of my family and the sin of our church family has sickened You and prevented all of us from living in victory. Forgive us, O God, and comfort us through Your forgiveness and refreshing.
